b) Uppercase and lowercase: the norms of the 1990 Orthographic Agreement are followed and, in cases where they allow double spelling, the author must use uppercases, namely in:

- holy names (Saint Isabel);
- in the names that refer to fields of knowledge (Philosophy, History, Classical Languages and Literatures);
- in words used in categorization of public places (street names), temples and buildings (Church of S. Domingos, Tibães Monastery);

V. Norms for bibliographic reference in the body of the text

In the context of citation, the bibliographic reference must appear in the body of the text, using the model (author last name, date: page), reserving the complete reference for the final bibliography.

- If the quotation is preceded in the body of the text by the name of the author and title of the work, the reference should include only the number of pages in parentheses.

- When there are two authors, the last name of both should be used, separated by and, but if there are more than two authors, only the first author name should be used, followed by et al. Example: (Cunha and Cintra, 1996: 17), (Santos et al., 1997).

- When there is a need to quote more than one work for the same idea, all necessary references must be used, separated from each other by (;). Example: (Flores et al., 1988; Winograd, 1986; Cunha and Cintra, 1996).

VI. Bibliography

- The word “Bibliography” appears in full, aligned to the left, with capital letter and in bold.

- Bibliographic references are separated by ; (semicolon).

- When necessary, the bibliography is subdivided into manuscript, printed and digital.

Presentation of bibliographic references:

The standards listed below are adapted from the APA - American Psychological Association (http://www.apastyle.org). For this purpose, we follow the model presented at https://www.uc.pt/fcdef/documentosbiblioteca/Bibliotecadigital/Normas.

a) Start the 1st line of each reference at the left margin of the page, and advance 3 spaces in the following lines.

b) The listing must be arranged in alphabetical order of the last name of the first author. When referring to more than one work by the same author, they should be listed in order of publication date, starting with the oldest and ending with the most recent, repeating the author's name in each publication.

c) When there is more than one work by the same author, whose year of publication is the same, it is listed in the bibliography in alphabetical order of the title, adding a lowercase letter to the year to prevent any confusion.

d) Reverse the names of all authors in each reference, placing the last name first and using only the initials of the other names.

e) When there is more than one author, the names of all authors must be used, and the name of the last author must be preceded by and.

f) The date of the publication is after the author's name, between brackets, followed by the book or article title.

g) In bibliographical references of books, use uppercase only in the first letter of the title, in the first letter of the subtitle, where it exists, as well as in proper names. Use italics for the whole title of the book.

h) In the bibliographic reference of articles in periodicals or in edited volumes, use uppercase only in the first letter of the title, in the first letter of the subtitle, where it exists, as well as in proper names. A period should be used after the article title.

i) Place the name of the periodical after the title of the article, use italics for the whole of its title and start each name of the title with a uppercase letter.

j) In references to periodicals, a Arabic numbered volume should be provided in bold, followed by the pages relating to that article, separated by hyphen (Example: 34: 120-128).

k) In the case of legislation, the reference should begin with the identification of the legal diploma. Example: Decree Law no. 238/98 of 1 August. Diário da República 176/98 - I Series A. Ministry of the Environment. Lisbon.
