With this text, it is intended to demonstrate that Sanatorium, a fourhanded feuilleton by Olavo Bilac and Carlos Magalhães de Azeredo, published in the newspaper Gazeta de Notícias, Rio de Janeiro, in late 1894, represented an allegory of the political conjuncture of those days, when Brazil suffered under the rule of Floriano Peixoto’s dictatorship (1891-1894).
